Ed Sheeran Tastes Like Chicken Shortlisted for Playmarket NZ Plays for the Young

Ed Sheeran Tastes Like Chicken, an allegorical satire about the plight of the Maui’s and Hector’s dolphins. Was shortlisted in the Playmarket NZ Plays for the Young competition 2017.

It is a world of miniature Ed Sheerans, environmental heroes, genetically modified pandas and even some familiar villains from the world of The Fridge like Barracuda Industries.

The aim of the work is to raise awareness about the precarious position of the Maui’s dolphins, a NZ species on the brink of extinction. Researchers now estimate the total population has sunk to an all-time low of around 55 individuals, and just 10 to 12 adult female Maui’s dolphins.
