Duck Bunny has been involved in theatrical projects over the past ten years throughout NZ and has staged plays written by established playwrights we admire. We also love to foster new talent and support emerging artists we believe in to collaborate, improvise, write, devise, perform and produce original work.

In 2015 Duck Bunny Theatre performed The Ugly One by Marius von Mayenburg, a scalpel sharp comedy on beauty, identity and getting ahead in life.

We partnered with the amazing team at The Ghostlight Theatre in Nelson to present a series of play readings for new works which we fondly called the Play Hatchery.

In 2019 and 2021, Alister was commissioned as one of fifty international playwrights to take part in the global Climate Change Theatre Action project which coincides with the UN Climate Conference. In 2019 and 2021 his plays were performed in 55 cities around the world in United States, India, Germany, Czech Republic, Serbia, South Korea, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, as well as NZ and Australia. As part of this project, plays were translated and published in Prague, South Korea and Italy as well as in the International CCTA Anthologies; Lighting the Way (2019) and The Future Is Not Fixed: Short Plays Envisioning a Global Green New Deal (2021).
