NELSON FRINGE May 2016: Duck Bunny Theatre performed the NZ premiere of Ed Sheeran Tastes Like Chicken, an allegorical satire about the plight of the Maui’s and Hector’s dolphins.
It is a world of miniature Ed Sheerans, environmental heroes, genetically modified pandas and even some familiar villains from the world of The Fridge like Barracuda Industries.
The aim of the work is to raise awareness about the precarious position of the Maui’s dolphins, a NZ species on the brink of extinction. Researchers now estimate the total population has sunk to an all-time low of around 55 individuals, and just 10 to 12 adult female Maui’s dolphins.
The show premiered at the 2016 Nelson Fringe Festival on Wed May 6 and SOLD OUT in just 3 days.
